LUE: Do Not Play List
Aug. 25th, 2024 04:28 pmPursuant to an earlier entry of mine, I was thinking about what should be on wedding Do Not Play lists. Now, a lot of this is subjective - to each their own - but there are, I feel, songs which are subjectively bad for wedding receptions. Here are a few:
"Every Breath You Take," The Police
bikergeek was spot on - this is not a song for a wedding. Sting himself thinks it's sick, though he doesn't mind the thousands of pounds he earns from its popularity at weddings.
"Going Through The Big D (And Don't Mean Dallas)," Mark Chesnutt
This one is self explanatory, yet a wedding DJ played this at a wedding I attended in the '90s. I maintain that he was either inebriated, sadistic, or both.
"It Wasn't Me," Shaggy feat. Rik Rok
A song that celebrates infidelity! What a great way to start off married life!
Any sexually explicit song
We know what the bride and groom are going to do (or not do; fully 60% of couples report being too tired to consummate their marriage on the wedding night). Spare Dad and Auntie the embarrassment and save the raunchy stuff for the stag night/hen night.
